2004 Barlow Prize for composers.The Barlow Endowment The Barlow Endowment for Music Composition is an endowed prize established by Milton A. and Gloria Barlow in 1983 "to engender and support excellence in musical composition. for Music Composition at Brigham Young University Brigham Young University, at Provo, Utah; Latter-Day Saints; coeducational; opened as an academy in 1875 and became a university in 1903. It is noted for its law and business schools. is seeking composers to compete for its Barlow Prize for an A Cappella Choral Work, an $11,000 commission, which will be premiered in 2006 by Vocal Essence, the BBC Singers and the University of Utah The University of Utah (also The U or the U of U or the UU), located in Salt Lake City, is the flagship public research university in the state of Utah, and one of 10 institutions that make up the Utah System of Higher Education. Singers. The nine- to twelve-minute work is expected to meet the highest artistic requirements for the choir. The Barlow Prize is open to all applicants except those who have won the Barlow Prize in the previous two years and members of the Barlow Boards.
