2003- election year in Israel.

18 women were elected to the 16th Kneeset!!.

An important development that emerged from the last elections is the changing balance in the number of women from the left parties to the right parties. In the past, the majority of women Knesset Members were from the left side of the political map, but today there are more women in the central (Shinui) and right parties. From this we can learn that representation of women in the parties has become more accepted.

The election results show that the Israel Women's Network struggle for the past 15 years, for representation of women in political parties in general and in realistic places on the lists in particular--is gaining ground and we can begin to see the results.

The ad and accompanying text was published in Ha'aretz newspaper by leading women's organizations: IWN, NAAMAT, WE Power and WIZO. It calls for women to be situated in realistic on party lists and reminds everyone that every second voter is in fact a woman!
