2003 Show-Stopper Awards: EDUCAUSE.

The mood at this year's EDUCAUSE conference in Anaheim (November 4-7) was decidedly brighter according to many vendors with whom we spoke. Attendees seemed more interested in buying than browsing, perhaps an encouraging sign of economic recovery. That's why, as we did last year, University Business recruited an undercover panel of judges Panel of Judges is an indie pop band from Melbourne, Australia. Members
  • Dion Nania (Golden Lifestyle Band) - guitar
  • Alison Bolger (Clag, Sleepy Township) - bass
  • Paul Williams (Molasses, Jaguar Is Jaguar) - drums

to walk the exhibit floor, visit vendor booths, try out products, and report their findings to us. It's our chance to let a group of University Business readers talk directly to their peers about the products and services they judge as exceptional and worthy of serious consideration. This year's conference floor featured 194 exhibitor booths, including both well-known names and some that were making their first foray into the higher education market. The judges (listed at right) are all higher education technology administrators who are also key technology decision makers. As always, we add this disclaimer: The Show-Stoppers project is not a scientific study; the comments on the following pages are based on the judges' opinions only. Many thanks to our panelists for a job well done.
