2003 PREVIEW BOYS' TENNIS: FOOTHILL'S DARK HORSE CANYON MIGHT FEATURE TALENT TO CONTEND WITH LEAGUE'S BEST.

Although the Canyon High boys' tennis team will start its Foothill League season the same way it did last year, it's hoping for a different result.

Not that last spring was a disappointment - the Cowboys cowboys, in American history.

But this spring Canyon again will face the top two teams in league, Valencia and Burbank, in its first league matches. Last year the Cowboys lost both meetings.

``They have a lot of returners coming back and they seem to be the teams to beat,'' Canyon coach Bob Gravett said.

But the Cowboys are also returning several top players. That, combined with a strong group of newcomers, could give Canyon the result it wants.

``(We) are experienced,'' Gravett said. ``And (we) should do well once again.''
