NDIA Recognizes Pearl Harbor Pearl Harbor, land-locked harbor, on the southern coast of Oahu island, Hawaii, W of Honolulu; one of the largest and best natural harbors in the E Pacific Ocean. In the vicinity are many U.S. military installations, including the chief U.S. Survivor's Widow NDIA's Undersea Warfare Operations conducted to establish battlespace dominance in the underwater environment, which permits friendly forces to accomplish the full range of potential missions and denies an opposing force the effective use of underwater systems and weapons. Division sponsored the annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on December 6, at the Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. Pictured are Charles L. Air Defense Command (NORAD), was the November luncheon speaker for NDIA's Rocky Mountain Chapter. He gave a brief history of NORAD from its inception in 1958 through the present. NORAD's indications and warning capability has increased continually as response times to changing threats have shortened over the past 50 years. How NORAD will participate in homeland security is being worked out under the Defense Department Unified Command Plan The document, approved by the President, that sets forth basic guidance to all unified combatant commanders; establishes their missions, responsibilities, and force structure; delineates the general geographical area of responsibility for geographic combatant commanders; and specifies . Picatinny Chapter Presents Firepower Awards NDIA's Picatinny Chapter presented its 21st Annual Firepower Awards luncheon in Parsippany, N.J. The Firepower Award recognizes significant contributions to the defense of the United States. In addition to the Firepower Awards, the chapter presented the Chapter Honors Award, the Chapter Appreciation Awards, the Service Award and the John A. Ulrich Project Management Award. These awards recognize deserving individuals for various contributions. The chapter also recognized the outstanding efforts of the government and industry team in achieving type classification and material release of armaments to increase U.S. defense capability for military services. The Type Classification and Material Release Awards are presented at a separate function at the Army Research, Development and Engineering Center, for recognition of the organizations and individuals involved. In addition to the award recipients, a certification of appreciation was presented to Sgt. Terry R. Calandra for distinguished and heroic service in Vietnam.
