. However this growth will not be seen across the entire industry. Analysing the latest figures from the largest 2000 companies in the Computer Software industry, Plimsoll revealed that over a third of the industry may not see growth at all and could lose 18.7% of sales on average this year. Three quarters of these companies saw profits fall in 2001 and almost 48% are currently making losses. Despite these factors very few have reduced staff and only 52% made attempts to reduce their asset base. Plimsoll's First Edition names 1152 companies that shared a 29.1% growth last year. Within this group 288 companies individually increased sales by a minimum of 65.2% last year. Many of these high growth companies are quite large, 9 of them making up part of the largest 100 companies in the UK Computer Software industry.
