really all about (the) team this year,'' said coach John Molacek, who coached basketball at Saugus for 13 years and has been in charge of girls' golf since the league added the sport in 1999.

Saugus took its lumps before last season, with just one victory in its first two years.

But those program-building days are over.

``Last year was the best to date,'' Molacek said.

Also, the Centurions have added a pair of talented players in junior Jill Statkus and freshman Kim Hauter.

``Aston and DeLeon should be in contention for the individual league title,'' Molacek said. ``Both played a lot as freshmen and played in a number of tournaments over the summer. I look for those two to shine.''

``All of them have been getting lessons,'' he said. ``There's a lot more passion for the game - not just to play but to compete. We look like we should really challenge.''

Molacek expects Hart - despite graduating its top five players from last year's 25-0 league champion - as well as Burroughs and Saugus to make the strongest runs at the title.

``Any one of us could win the league,'' Molacek said.
