The Bulldogs lost the Golden League title by one point (69-68) to eventual league champion Lancaster in their second-to-last regular-season game.

They haven't forgotten.

``It hurt really bad to come so close, but it's a good thing in a way,'' Highland senior forward/guard Bryan Young Bryan Young may refer to:

said. ``It reminds us what we want to accomplish this year. We have big expectations for ourselves, and we really don't want to go through that again.''

Highland has the tools to accomplish its goal. The Bulldogs appear to be the league's most talented team, boasting size, quickness and several good shooters.

They also have experience.

Highland returns five key players, including Young, a returning all- league honorable-mention selection who is among their best shooters and is averaging 17 points per game.

White, a senior guard, is a strong outside shooter, and at 6-4, his size presents matchup problems on the perimeter. Alvey (Cameron's younger brother Wiki is aware of the following uses of "'Younger Brother":

Highland coach Jeff Smith said he likes the way his team's offense is clicking, especially with how the team runs the motion offense and executes set plays they've been working on since summer-league play.

But Smith is concerned about an inconsistent defense. The Bulldogs have been involved in several nonleague shootouts, including an 86-76 loss to La Canada, and Smith said defense will be the primary focus of his team's practices.
