2002 PREVIEW: BOYS' BASKETBALL: ONE CHANGE ADDED TO MIX LITTLEROCK WORKING ON ITS SHOOTING.Byline: Gideon Rubin Staff Writer LITTLEROCK - They've always been known for speed. This year, the Littlerock High boys' basketball team has added perimeter shooting to its repertoire Repertoire may mean Repertory but may also refer to:
With senior point guard Laquin Mitchell, one of the Golden League's most athletic players - he's only 5-foot-8 and can dunk - Littlerock won't soon abandon the fast break. But senior guard Delvar McKee and junior guard Sonke Peterson, a German exchange student who's in his first year at Littlerock, have given the Lobos' offense a new dimension. ``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed) "Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party. what it is,'' fifth-year coach Ben Dale said, ``it's (team speed) always been a characteristic of Littlerock basketball. But his year, we really have some really good shooters.'' When Littlerock runs the floor and shoots consistently, it can be a dangerous team. That was evident in a 95-58 victory Thursday over Manual Arts of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. in an opening-round game at the Hart tournament in Newhall. Littlerock (5-5) has also put both phases of the game together effectively in nonleague victories over Newbury Park and Pacific of Citrus Heights Cit·rus Heights A community of north-central California, a suburb of Sacramento. Population: 88,500. . Mitchell is averaging 25 points a game, and McKee and Peterson, who are each averaging more than 10 points, have combined to give the Lobos the best outside shooting combination Dale said he's ever had. ``Everything just flows,'' said McKee, describing what it's like when his team starts clicking, as it did in the Manual Arts game. ``It seems like everybody is always exactly where they're supposed to be, it's fun. ``We get along really well on and off the court, and I think that's made us a better team.'' Littlerock also figures to be among the league's best defensive teams. The Lobos employ a pressure defense that so far has been aggressive and disciplined, Dale said. However, if it is going to contend for the league title, Littlerock will have to overcome its lack of height. Senior forward/center Ronald Hughes Ronald Hughes (March 16, 1935 - 1970) was a court appointed attorney who represented Manson "family" member Leslie Van Houten and alleged Manson Family murder victim. Tate-LaBianca Murder Trial (6-3) averages 11 rebounds a game, but the drop after him is significant, and the Lobos have been beaten badly in that area on several occasions. Junior Kenneth Davis Kenneth Earl Davis (born April 16, 1962 in Temple, Texas) is a former professional American football running back who played for the NFL's Green Bay Packers from 1986-1988 and the Buffalo Bills from 1989-1994.
