2002 Oregon Statewide Assessment.

Byline: The Register-Guard

CORRECTION (ran 9/18/02): In the 2002 Oregon Statewide Assessment, 84 percent of students at Mount Vernon Mount Vernon, estate, United States
Mount Vernon, NE Va., overlooking the Potomac River near Alexandria, S of Washington, D.C.; home of George Washington from 1747 until his death in 1799.
Elementary in Springfield met or exceeded standards in the science category. In the math problem solving problem solving

section, 82 percent met or exceeded the standards. The numbers were incorrect in a chart in the Sept. 6 newspaper.

Here's how Lane County students performed in the 2002 Statewide Assessment. In the first three categories, reading/literature, math and science, scores reflect the percentage of students who met or exceeded performance standards. These tests were multiple choice. In the writing and math problem-solving categories, scores reflect the percentage who conditionally met, met or exceeded standards. Percentages weren't available for schools or classes where five or fewer students took the test. Third-graders did not take science, writing or math problem-solving tests.

For a more detailed breakdown of results, and for results from other counties, visit www.ode.state.or.us/asmt/results on the Internet.
