2002 National Management of Accounting Practice Survey results released.


PCPS--the AICPA AICPA

 Alliance for CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000.  Firms and the Texas Society of CPAs partnered for the first time this year to offer the 2002 PCPS/TSCPA National Management of Accounting Practice Survey.  2,500 accounting firms from across the U.S. responded to the survey, conducted in Sept. and Oct. The results will enable firms to benchmark their management practices and financial results to other firms, as well as gain strategic guidance to build more profitable and successful practices. The survey covered issues of firm revenue, compensation, billable hours Billable Hours is a Canadian comedy series, which airs on Showcase.

Set in the fictional Toronto law firm of Fagen & Harrison, the series focuses on three young lawyers struggling to balance their expectations in life with the difficult realities of building a career
, and human resource/staffing policies and examined the types of services that firms provide.

In mid-Nov., participating firms received a detailed customized report that ranked their firm based on location, size of firm, compensation and level of profitability, in addition to other factors. The report, free to all PCPS-member firms, also is offered at a discount to firms located in a state with one of the 38 participating state CPA societies.
