Congress 8, Exposition exposition or exhibition, term frequently applied to an organized public fair or display of industrial and artistic productions, designed usually to promote trade and to reflect cultural progress.  in Phoenix was a memorable one for so many people. It was the largest attended Congress in the Association's 35-year history and also featured the largest number of exhibitors ever at an NRPA Trade Show. But delegates and members of industry would not keep coming to an NRPA Congress in record numbers unless they were receiving an overwhelmingly positive experience from attending. . Did you know that NRPA was the largest show that the Phoenix Civic Center held this year? We are growing in leaps and bounds with new members and organizations interested in working with NRPA. The welcome and hospitality that the entire City of Phoenix provided NRPA delegates--from Mayor Skip Rimsa to the hundreds of volunteers that make an event like this possible--was memorable and made the entire Congress experience unforgettable.

On the next few pages I have prepared a photo montage montage (mŏntäzh`, Fr. môNtäzh`), the art and technique of motion-picture editing in which contrasting shots or sequences are used to effect emotional or intellectual responses.  of just some of the many highlights of the 2000 NRPA Congress. After graduating from Asbury College Asbury College is a Christian liberal arts institution located in Wilmore, Kentucky. Although it is a nondenominational school, the college's foundation stems from a Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. The school offers 50 majors across 17 departments.  with a degree in recreation, I applied as an intern with the National Recreation and Park Association for an opportunity to broaden my knowledge and meet professionals in the recreation field. During my term, my two major projects were to compile To translate a program written in a high-level programming language into machine language. See compiler.  and edit the 2001 Training Calendar and to assist Michelle Herrera, the program coordinator, with the pre-Congress duties and the on-site management during the NRPA Congress in Phoenix, Arizona Phoenix /ˈfiːˌnɪks/ (English: Phoenix, Navajo: Hoozdo, lit. "the place is hot", Western Apache: Fiinigis) is the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. .

The weeks before the conference, I worked on a mass mailing to the speakers and chairs f the educational sessions sending them information and confirmation letters, and I organized the calendar program forms as they came in from the state associations and societies. I spoke to numerous people on the phone looking forward to the day I could eventually meet these people and connect a face to their names.

The one week in Phoenix I had been anticipating came in due time. As I arrived at the Sky Harbor Airport Sky Harbor Airport is the name for several airports including:
  • Sky Harbor Airport (KDYT) Duluth, Minnesota
  • Sky Harbor Airport (S86) Sultan, Washington

The days began with an informative early morning staff meeting. It helped that they were catered. The week started by unpacking, setting up the offices, and settling last minute problems.  week turned out to be very smooth. The speaker booth was unbelievably organized by three local host committee members- Nancy, Donna, and Cheryl- that it left us wondering if we were missing something. And the paint session brought no ripples either.

Overall, the attendees seemed to enjoy themselves for the rest of the conference. And for me, it was a wonderful opportunity and experience as I witnessed all the pieces fall into place.

NRPA DAY OF SERVICE EVENT

The final Day of Service event of NRPA's Year of Service Initiative was held at Papago Park, a beautifully maintained park with a host of activities for park users. More than 400 individuals of all ages gathered together on Saturday to work on a number of service projects to enhance the park. This included cleaning a lagoon lagoon
