It was the largest attended Congress in the Association's 35-year history and also featured the largest number of exhibitors ever at an NRPA Trade Show. The welcome and hospitality that the entire City of Phoenix provided NRPA delegates--from Mayor Skip Rimsa to the hundreds of volunteers that make an event like this possible--was memorable and made the entire Congress experience unforgettable. During my term, my two major projects were to compile To translate a program written in a high-level programming language into machine language. The weeks before the conference, I worked on a mass mailing to the speakers and chairs f the educational sessions sending them information and confirmation letters, and I organized the calendar program forms as they came in from the state associations and societies. I spoke to numerous people on the phone looking forward to the day I could eventually meet these people and connect a face to their names. The one week in Phoenix I had been anticipating came in due time. As I arrived at the Sky Harbor Airport Sky Harbor Airport is the name for several airports including:

At last years Congress in Nashville, I was a student volunteer, but this year as an intern, I viewed it from the internal side and saw what it really takes to put on an extensive event. With an informative program notebook and radio in-hand in-hand being led; a show class of led horses. , I was prepared to represent NRPA. The days began with an informative early morning staff meeting. It helped that they were catered. The week started by unpacking, setting up the offices, and settling last minute problems. As an assistant to Michelle, I was in charge of speaker registration and the educational session You Can Paint-I Promise. What we thought was going to be a crazy, tiring tir·ing n. The speaker booth was unbelievably organized by three local host committee members- Nancy, Donna, and Cheryl- that it left us wondering if we were missing something. And the paint session brought no ripples either. Overall, the attendees seemed to enjoy themselves for the rest of the conference. And for me, it was a wonderful opportunity and experience as I witnessed all the pieces fall into place. NRPA DAY OF SERVICE EVENT The final Day of Service event of NRPA's Year of Service Initiative was held at Papago Park, a beautifully maintained park with a host of activities for park users.
