2000 FEET DANCE TO PHILADELPHIA.


PHILADELPHIA--All those feet are building up momentum: 2000 Feet--A Celebration of World Dance (June 19 to 25) is the culmination of the three-year Philadelphia Dances project, presented by the University of the Arts University of the Arts may refer to:

Glazer, the festival codirector as well as director of the University of the Arts School of Dance, "2000 Feet brings together 1000 performers and thousands of professionals and enthusiasts as a way to promote artistic experimentation and growth, increase public awareness of dance, and extend the boundaries of this most exciting and demanding art form."

Pearl B. Schaeffer, festival codirector and executive director of the Philadelphia Dance Alliance, agrees. "This event is unprecedented--not only for Philadelphia, but for the global dance community. Dancers from Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe will showcase their repertory in shared programs with more than thirty-five Philadelphia-based companies including Pennsylvania Ballet The Pennsylvania Ballet is a ballet company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, established in 1963 by Barbara Weisberger. The company became a regionally important institution, and performed in New York for the first time in 1968.  and Philadanco."

2000 Feet will kick off with a gala performance on Saturday, June 19 at the Merriam Theater and culminate culminate, in astronomy, the maximum height in the sky reached by a celestial body on a given day. At the culminate the body is crossing the observer's celestial meridian and is said to be in upper transit.  with what organizers hope will be the world's largest dance party in Philadelphia's City Hall Courtyard on Friday, June 25.
