2000 COWBOYS POETRY & MUSIC FESTIVAL EXPANDED A DAY.

Tickets go on sale today for Santa Clarita's Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival, a peek back at the Old West and its under-the-stars-style entertainment.

The 2000 festival has been expanded to five days, scheduled March 29-April 2. Tickets tend to go fast, especially to headline events staged at the picturesque Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio and at Hart Park and Museum.

``One of the things we're most excited about this year is that we've added another day,'' said Michael Marks Michael Marks, (June 1859 – December 31 1907), was one of the two co-founders of the retail chain Marks and Spencer.

 will be among performers inducted into the walk, honored with bronze plaques embedded in the sidewalk of Old Town Newhall. Dale Evans will be given a lifetime achievement award.

The walk was established by Newhall merchants in 1981 to honor legends of Western films, the stage and television and radio, but has been dormant since the Northridge Earthquake The Northridge earthquake occurred on January 17, 1994 at 4:31 AM Pacific Standard Time in the city of Los Angeles, California. New attractions will include The Great Poetry Tall Tales Train Trip, a 30-minute ride aboard the Fillmore and Western locomotive, The Great Western Film Showcase at the Plaza Cinemas in Newhall, featuring contemporary Western Films, and a production of ``The Majestic Kid'' at the newly renovated Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre.

``This is our big year,'' Marks said. ``We've really gotten lots of people interested in presenting events and a lot of really good venues.''

The festival features musical performances, poetry readings, chidlren's events, horseback rides, barbecues, roping shows and other entertainment.
