Paisley also received six CMA Awards nominations at the announcements, including Male Vocalist, Horizon Award, Album, Single, Song and Music Video of the Year. Paisley called the CMA Personality and Station of the Year winners on the stations' studio hotlines with no advance notice, and got reactions ranging from tears to laughter. "This was a really exciting way to surprise our Broadcast Winners with the news," says Ed Benson, CMA Executive Director. "Because we were able to involve the listeners in the process and honor these hard-working professionals and exceptional stations in their home markets." Winners were selected in four categories (Small Market, Medium Market, Large Market and Major Market) for the Personality of the Year and Station of the Year. The categories are established by market size based on Arbitron rankings. All interested full-time, on-air Country personalities and radio stations in the US and Canada were eligible to enter. A panel of broadcast professionals judged the entries.
