Residents interested in bending the mayor's ear about an array of topics - from police reform to tree trimming - are invited to apply for a few minutes of his time.

Twenty residents will be chosen randomly for 10-minute sessions with the mayor. A staff member will be on hand to take notes on the issue raised.

Applicants who don't make the final cut can show up at the meeting place to talk with other staffers about issues of concern.

Sessions are scheduled through fall - with two meetings a month in September and October - with the program expected to continue after that, Wong said.

``We expect that some problems will be easier than others to solve. But we're going do our best,'' Wong said. ``The goal is not to say, 'Call the department, Good luck.' It's an opportunity for the Mayor's Office to be helpful to our constituents.''
