20 000 t/a 1-butene project kicks off.

In November 2007, Nanjing YPC Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. started construction on the 20 000 t/a 1-butene project in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.

The total investment of the project is planned to be RMB90.0 million. After completion of the project, 58 000 tons of MTBE (methyl teA-butyl ether) as byproduct can also be produced a year. The increasing demand for 1-butene and MTBE in the domestic market can therefore be partially satisfied.

Besides, the existing 15 000 t/a 1-butene unit is to match with the 650 000 t/a ethylene renovation project in Yangzi Petrochemical Company Ltd.
