SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2000

Pulse Tuesday introduced a next-generation RF splitter/combiner to support interactive broadband cable communications.

Applications include cable network amplifiers and nodes, cable modems, set-top boxes, Internet appliances, and cable telephony.

As a splitter, the CX4002 is used to divide one RF signal into two matched outputs, or as a combiner, two signals are joined into a single output. Both ways, the CX4002 provides minimal signal loss while maintaining high signal isolation across a 5-1000 MHz bandwidth.

These CX4002 performance features ensure excellent signal integrity for the growing sophistication so·phis·ti·cate

of hybrid fiber/coax network equipment and home cable entertainment and video systems.

What differentiates the CX4002 is an excellent voltage standing wave ratio In telecommunications, standing wave ratio (SWR) is the ratio of the amplitude of a partial standing wave at an antinode (maximum) to the amplitude at an adjacent node (minimum), in an electrical transmission line.  (VSWR) of 1.1:1 over the full frequency range and superior isolation (30 dB typical to 400 MHz, 21 dB typical to 1000 MHz).

Its compact size, 0.310 x 0.255 inch (7.87 x 6.48 mm), ceramic base, cover for pick-and-place compatibility and capacity to withstand the 235(degree) C peak temperature during IR solder reflow (1) The process of heating and melting the solder that has been screen printed onto a printed circuit board in order to bond chips and other components to the board. Surface mount chips (SMT) use the reflow method. Contrast with wave soldering. See also reflowable text.  make the CX4002 ideal for today's manufacturers of compact, high performance cable products.

"The cable network has been expanding its bandwidth in response to growing demand for advanced cable services. The CX4002 meets the current network bandwidth requirements of 750 MHz or 860 MHz for existing cable equipment and also performs up to 1000 MHz for future applications," stated Paul Fadlovich, senior product manager of Pulse's recently announced Cable Products Group.

Available in tube or tape-and-reel packaging, the CX4002 is priced from $3.90 in quantities of 10,000. Higher volume discounts are available. Details are listed in data sheet C201 available at http://www.pulseeng.com/pdf/2201.pdf.
