Project Description: See and appreciate the beauty of nature and understand how the arts promote this by utilizing a variety of resources. In this project you will recreate an O'Keeffe-style flower, then construct an insect out of Sculpey[R] clay. First create an enlarged flower with overlapping parts, which break the borders, then develop a rounded insect form consisting of a head, thorax thorax, body division found in certain animals. In humans and other mammals it lies between the neck and abdomen and is also called the chest. The skeletal frame of the thorax is formed by the sternum (breastbone) and ribs in front and the dorsal vertebrae in back. , abdomen abdomen, in humans and other vertebrates, portion of the trunk between the diaphragm and lower pelvis. In humans the wall of the abdomen is a muscular structure covered by fascia, fat, and skin. , six legs, a pair of antennae, and wings. Become aware of features unique to individual flowers and point out and name flower details and features by examining live, artificial, and photographed flowers. Also view and discuss Georgia O'Keeffe Georgia Totti O'Keeffe (November 15, 1887—March 6,1986) was an American artist. She is typically associated with the American Southwest and particularly New Mexico where she settled late in life. O'Keeffe has been a major figure in American art since the 1920s.  flower paintings. Manipulate the Sculpey[R] clay and use joining methods to create a 3-D insect to understand the difference between 2-D and 3-D art forms. Learn various drawing skills by embellishing the insect using dots and line textures.
