2 quakes occur in sea off Japan.

The first quake at 2:59 p.m. registered 2 on the Japanese scale of 7 in some parts of Hokkaido and Aomori.

There were no reports of casualties or damage from the quake.

The focus of the quake is estimated at 480 kilometers under the sea north of Hokkaido in the Sea of Okhotsk.

The second earthquake had an estimated magnitude of 5.6 and occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture, the agency said.

The 3:08 p.m. quake registered 2 on the Japanese scale of 7 in some parts of Fukushima, Yamagata and Miyagi prefectures Miyagi Prefecture (宮城県 Miyagi-ken .

There were no reports of casualties or damage from the quake.

The focus of the quake is estimated at 10 km under the sea off Fukushima.
