2 men killed in apparent murder-suicide.Byline: Rebecca Nolan The Register-Guard CRESWELL - A Creswell man told sheriff's dispatchers Friday that he had put his partner "out of his misery" by firing two .38-caliber bullets into his head. The man then said he would shoot himself before help arrived. He kept his word. When Lane County sheriff's deputies arrived at the the men's mobile home around 12:30 p.m., they found blood on the outside of the front door. But a records search and interviews with neighbors revealed some details. The call to 911 was placed at 12:24 p.m. by a man who identified himself as Scott Hartman. He told dispatchers he shot his partner to "put him out of his misery." Neighbors confirmed that one of the men living in the house was named Scott Hartman. They knew his partner only by the first name Randy The name Randy generally derives from the names Randall or Randolph (meaning wolf with a shield). Other residents of the park said the men were quiet and pretty much kept to themselves. Hartman's adult daughter also lives in the park, but was not home Friday afternoon. Her daughter recently had been staying at the men's home. A granddaughter was in Harrisburg visiting an aunt Friday and did not witness the shooting, neighbors said. A number of the daughter's friends hugged and cried in the street when investigators told them what had happened.
