The two local singers were selected from among 828 Southern California students who auditioned in the Spotlight Awards performance categories of ballet, nonclassical dance, classical voice, nonclassical voice, classical instrument and jazz instrumental music. Each semifinalist will attend a professional master class and compete in auditions at which two finalists will be chosen in each category. The 12 student finalists will be announced in mid-March, and will perform on stage at the Spotlight Awards gala to be held at 7 p.m. April 22 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is one of the halls in the Los Angeles Music Center (which is one of the three largest performing arts centers in the United States).
