to a traditional nine-month calendar starting in the fall.

El Dorado School lost about 50 students because of changes in attendance boundaries, and Mariposa's growth was less than anticipated because a builder has delayed plans to construct 57 homes, officials said.

``It's simply a decision based on the level of enrollment at those two schools,'' said Ned McNabb, assistant superintendent Assistant Superintendent, or Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was a rank used by police forces in the British Empire. The 13,600-student district's 13 other schools will remain on year-round schedules.

El Dorado and Mariposa had been on a modified year-round schedule this school year with two tracks that resembled a traditional schedule.

El Dorado's enrollment has showed a decline over several years, dropping from more than 900 in the 1995-96 school year to fewer than 700 this school year. In 1998-99, the enrollment is projected to be about 650.

Mariposa is a small school whose enrollment has remained somewhat steady over the years. Its current student population is 537.

As a result of revised attendance boundaries approved earlier this year for El Dorado, Linda Verde, Jack Northrop and Joshua elementary schools, about 50 students will be shifted from El Dorado to Joshua, officials said.

The attendance zone changes were made mainly to correct an anomaly with Jack Northrop School, which drew pupils from two widely separated areas. A large number of pupils from the northernmost part of the district were assigned to Jack Northrop in the most southern part of the district.
