2 PLEAD NOT GUILTY TO DYNAMITE POSSESSION.

VAN NUYS- Two men pleaded not guilty Thursday in connection with the discovery of unstable dynamite in a Van Nuys industrial building, the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County District Attorney's Office said.

Guy Fostersmith, 43, of Los Angeles and Arthur Chornuy, 35, of Marina del Rey Del Rey may refer to:

 were charged with felony possession of a destructive device A destructive device is a firearm or explosive device that, in the United States, is regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934. Examples of destructive devices are grenades, and firearms with a bore over one half of an inch, including some semi-automatic shotguns.  near a public area and possession of an explosive.

They pleaded not guilty during their arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted  in Van Nuys Superior Court and are scheduled to return to the courthouse Jan. 5 so a date can be set for their preliminary hearing.

A third man, James Wurth, whose residence is unknown, was scheduled to be arraigned on the same charges today at the Van Nuys courthouse.

Chornuy and Fostersmith, who has two prior drug-related convictions, operated an antiques store in the building, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Early Wednesday, city firefighters deliberately burned the industrial building in the 7900 block of Haskell Avenue where 60 to 70 sticks of old, unstable dynamite were found, authorities said.
