Prosecutors allege Taylor was aiming for a rival gang member when he fired into a group of 40 students waiting at a bus stop at Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. It was also U.S. and Winnetka Avenue, striking three bystanders instead. Govea was driving the car, which fled from the scene, prosecutors said. Another passenger in the vehicle, Jeffrey Trinnell Young of Panorama City, was arrested but was later released without charges being filed. Taylor's defense attorney, Bob Rentzer, said he believes Young was the actual shooter and his client is innocent.
