2 INJURED IN SAUGUS FIRE.

SAUGUS - Two men were injured when a house caught fire Saturday, possibly sparked by someone smoking in bed, authorities said.

The two men were inside a one-story house behind Saugus Cafe on San Fernando Road San Fernando Road is a major street in the city and county of Los Angeles. It starts off in Castaic as The Old Road, passing through Santa Clarita and the Newhall Pass, where upon its intersection with Sierra Highway near the junction of the Golden State (I-5) and the  when the fire started before 12:20 p.m. One man suffered a cut on his arm and the other was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital with second degree burns over half of his body, authorities said.

``When we got there the house was well involved. We're chalking it up to an accident, but the cause of the fire is under investigation,'' Robertson said.

The structure sustained an estimated $64,000 in damage, and property loss inside the house was about $500, Robertson said.

The blaze and responding fire crews slowed traffic on San Fernando Road for about an hour.
