A spokeswoman for the Judicial Police said: "Two men were arrested on suspicion of homicide and robbery. "They were taken to the court in Portimao and began making their statements to the judge. In homicide cases it is more usual for suspects to be remanded in custody. "The arrests followed a lengthy and meticulous police investigation." Mr Houston had been on an annual golf holiday with wife Celine and friends Philip and Marian Devlin. The couples had enjoyed dinner together in a local restaurant hours but the Derryman was alone when he was attacked by the waterside.
