2 HURT IN BIG-RIG CRASH LOADS OF ONIONS, CEMENT SCATTER, CLOSING JUNCTURE.

LANCASTER - Two truck drivers were badly injured in·jure

 Monday morning after one big rig Big Rig was a punk band from the San Francisco Bay Area fronted by singer/songwriter Jesse Michaels. Michaels performed with the group after the break up of his previous project, Operation Ivy, and before forming the band Common Rider.  apparently ran a red light and was hit by a second, spilling onions and cement and closing the intersection.

Truck driver Lawerence Roth, 54, of Quartz Hill was hospitalized in critical condition with severe head injuries, deputies said.

The other truck driver, Michael DeMoica, 27, of Palmdale was hospitalized in serious condition with head injuries and a broken shoulder.

Both men were being treated at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a hospital in Mission Hills, California, USA. The hospital has 254 beds, and is part of Providence Health & Services. History  in Mission Hills, where they were flown by helicopter after the 10:12 a.m. crash at Challenger Way and Avenue L.

DeMoica's truck was hauling 22 tons of onions east on Avenue L. Roth's flatbed was traveling south on Challenger Way loaded with cement bags, other construction material and a large forklift.

Based on witnesses' statements, deputies said their preliminary investigation indicates that DeMoica's eastbound east·bound
