CANYON COUNTRY - Two men died Tuesday night in Canyon Country after their speeding car spun out of control, hit a cement pole and came to rest in two pieces, authorities said.

Robert Leinbach III, 20, and 19-year-old Christopher Singer, both of Canyon Country, suffered fatal injuries when the car hit a light pole about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday on Sand Canyon Road, south of Silver Saddle Circle, authorities said.

Leinbach, who was driving the 1995 Honda Civic The Honda Civic is a compact car manufactured by Honda. It was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door coupe, followed by a three-door hatchback version that September. With the transverse engine placement of its 1169 cc engine and front-wheel drive, like the British Mini, the , was thrown from the car and died at the scene, said Deputy Tony Arnold of the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  sheriff's station. Singer was taken by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

``There's still a lot more to be investigated, but I can say that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed,'' Arnold said Wednesday. ``A witness who was driving the opposite direction saw the car lose control, hit a tree and then hit the pole.''

Arnold said toxicology toxicology, study of poisons, or toxins, from the standpoint of detection, isolation, identification, and determination of their effects on the human body. Toxicology may be considered the branch of pharmacology devoted to the study of the poisonous effects of drugs.  tests will be performed to determine whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

By Wednesday afternoon, friends of the victims - who met in elementary school elementary school: see school.  and graduated from Canyon High in 2002 - began gathering at the site of the crash, leaving flowers under the tree as they talked about the men.

They remembered Leinbach, who played football at Canyon High, as a class clown with a sarcastic sar·cas·tic

streak. Singer, they said, was also known for his dry humor humor, according to ancient theory, any of four bodily fluids that determined man's health and temperament. Hippocrates postulated that an imbalance among the humors (blood, phlegm, black bile, and yellow bile) resulted in pain and disease, and that good health was  but was more on the quiet side.

Childhood friend Tiffany Tevere, also a 2002 graduate of Canyon High, said she learned of their deaths Wednesday morning. Using pink chalk, Tevere wrote ``We Love You Boys'' on the pavement at the crash site Wednesday afternoon.

``It's not really real yet,'' she said. ``It's hard to think that two people you've grown up with aren't going to be here anymore because of a stupid decision they made.''

Arnold said Leinbach's father arrived at the crash scene late Tuesday, before his son's body had been taken away. ``His dad is the one who made the positive ID,'' he said.

Harry Welch, head coach for Canyon High's varsity football team, remembered Leinbach as gregarious gre·gar·i·ous
