2 ARRESTED IN STRING OF BREAK-INS PAIR MAY BE LINKED TO 25 CARS.Byline: Jennifer Hamm Staff Writer BURBANK - Two people have been arrested in connection with as many as 25 car break-ins near NBC Studios
NBC Studios , police said Friday. The thieves targeted mainly rental cars, stealing luggage, cameras, golf clubs and other expensive items. Jose Cabrillos, 24, of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. and Imelda Gonzalez, 30, of Hollywood were arrested Thursday on suspicion of auto burglary. Police had watched them break into four cars, said Sgt. K. Frank of the Burbank Police Department The Burbank Police Department is the police department serving Burbank, California. Tim Stehr became the Police Chief of the department on August 1, 2007. The previous chiefs were Thomas Hoefel, David Newsham and Glen Bell. . Officers found a video camera, luggage, clothing and cash in the suspects' car totaling $1,000. The suspects are being held in Burbank jail and will be arraigned Monday. ``They targeted rental cars because they knew they'd be tourists, and tourists have money, luggage, cameras, golf clubs,'' Frank said, ``all the typical stuff they like.'' The suspects would break into the cars by picking the lock on the passenger side door while tourists were enjoying the Burbank sights, Frank said. ``I feel bad for all the tourists going to NBC NBC in full National Broadcasting Co. Major U.S. commercial broadcasting company. It was formed in 1926 by RCA Corp., General Electric Co. (GE), and Westinghouse and was the first U.S. company to operate a broadcast network. ,'' Frank said. ``They walk out and all their stuff is gone.'' The parking lot is not on NBC property, so the victims were not necessarily guests or employees of the studio, said Shirley Powell, NBC spokeswoman. ``They could have been coming to NBC, but it's not our parking lot,'' she said. |
