Police arrested two men on suspicion of robbing a Glendale market and five convenience stores The following is a list of convenience stores organized by geographical location. Police had traced the license plate number provided by a witness at one of the holdups, Detective Jim Gerardi said.

John Carreon, 20, and Roberto Alfaro, 19, both of Los Angeles, were taken into custody about 5 a.m. when they left Carreon's home and got in the car. The men told police they were on their way to work at a construction job, Gerardi said.

They are suspected in a robbery spree that began in November, Gerardi said. Included was the Jan. 8 robbery of the Circle K market at Victory Boulevard Victory Boulevard is a major thoroughfare on Staten Island, measuring approximately 8.0 miles (12.87 km) and stretching from the west shore community of Travis to the upper east shore communities of St. George and Tompkinsville.  and Western Avenue in Glendale, Gerardi said.

A security camera videotaped the robbery of a North Hollywood minimarket Jan. 6, police said.

Gerardi said police suspect the two would go into the markets together - one would pull up his shirt to expose a gun tucked into his waistband to the clerk, and the other went behind the counter and cleared the cash register in each case.

No one was hurt in the string of robberies, including two in Van Nuys, one in the West Valley and two in North Hollywood. The last occurred in North Hollywood on Monday, Gerardi said.

The six minimarket holdups netted less than $500 total, he said.

Carreon is on parole for carjacking The criminal taking of a motor vehicle from its driver by force, violence, or intimidation.

, Gerardi said.

Both men are being held on $220,000 bail, the detective said.

They are expected to be arraigned Friday in Van Nuys.
