The Antelope Valley
 runners are set to compete today in what's considered among the state's most prestigious races.

Highland High's Jeremy Acosta and Caitlin Fitzgerald are among more than 19,000 runners from 525 schools scheduled to compete at the Mount San Antonio Mount San Antonio, better known to most in Los Angeles as Old Baldy or Mount Baldy, is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains of Southern California, USA and the highest point in Los Angeles County. Mount San Antonio has two summits.  College Cross Country Invitational in·vi·ta·tion·al

Acosta will race today at 9:05 a.m. in the Div. I-II boys' individual sweepstakes race.

Acosta, a winner at the Kenny Staub Invitational in La Crescenta earlier this season, is among the favorites in a race that also includes Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  of La Crescenta's Zack Torres.

Acosta defeated Torres at the Kenny Staub in September with a surge in the final 100 meters.

Fitzgerald, a senior and the defending Golden League champion, will compete in the Div. I-II individual sweepstakes race today at 10:45 a.m.

The Highland girls team is ranked No. 5 by the Daily News, and the boys' team is ranked sixth.
