CONSERVATION OF ELECTRICITY ACROSS

NEW ENGLAND IS STILL REQUESTED

THE POWER WARNING ISSUED BY ISO NEW ENGLAND IS STILL IN EFFECT FOR THE ENTIRE NEW ENGLAND REGION UNTIL 8:00 P.M.

HIGH DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON PEAK USAGE PERIOD AND INTO THE EVENING HOURS. ISO NEW ENGLAND URGES BOTH BUSINESS AND RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS TO CONTINUE TO REDUCE ELECTRICITY USAGE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY.

RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS ARE ASKED TO VOLUNTARILY REDUCE THEIR ELECTRICITY USAGE BY TURNING OFF UNNECESSARY LIGHTS AND ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES, MINIMIZING THE USE OF AIR CONDITIONING air conditioning, mechanical process for controlling the humidity, temperature, cleanliness, and circulation of air in buildings and rooms. Indoor air is conditioned and regulated to maintain the temperature-humidity ratio that is most comfortable and healthful.  AND DELAYING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS LAUNDRY Laundry can be:
  • items of clothing and other textiles that require washing
  • the act of washing clothing and textiles
  • the room of a house in which this is done

BUSINESSES ARE URGED TO TURN OFF LIGHTS, COMPUTERS AND OTHER OFFICE EQUIPMENT WHEN NOT IN USE, AND TURN UP THE THERMOSTAT thermostat, automatic device that regulates temperature in an enclosed area by controlling heating or refrigerating systems. It is commonly connected to one of these systems, turning it on or off in order to maintain a predetermined temperature.  FOR AIR CONDTIONING BY A FEW DEGREES.

Based in Holyoke, MA, ISO New England is responsible for the safe, secure and reliable operation of the region's bulk electricity generation and transmission systems.
