2,000 JEEP/EAGLE DEALERS TO DESCEND ON DETROIT
 FOR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE INTRODUCTION
HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler Corporation (NYSE: C) will host a meeting of 2,000 Jeep/Eagle dealers from the U.S. and Canada today and Thursday to introduce them to the all-new Jeep(R), the Grand Cherokee -- the vehicle that made its smashing debut last week at the North American International Auto Show when Chrysler President Robert A. Lutz drove it through the front glass at Cobo Hall with Detroit Mayor Coleman A. Young in the passenger seat.
"This is the first time Chrysler will host this many dealers for the introduction of one vehicle," said Jeep/Eagle General Manager Larry Baker. "Of the dealers invited, 97 percent responded that they plan to attend."
Chrysler Chairman Lee Iacocca and many of Chrysler's senior executives will meet with the dealers to discuss a comprehensive overview of the new vehicle, including its engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales. Dealers will also learn Chrysler's plans for the Jeep Cherokee model line.
The dealer visit will include a tour of the new Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Mich., the new headquarters for all Chrysler design and engineering operations.
The dealers will also see the Grand Cherokee being produced at Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Chrysler's newest plant. A private showing of the North American International Auto Show will round-out the dealers' visit to Detroit.
During travel time between each tour, local high school honors students will serve as guides to point out highlights of the city as the dealers' buses travel through Detroit.
