1st Vocational Training Program (AJYAL) Project launched.

Zarqa, October 11 (Petra)-- Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and World Vision Jordan launched the "Emergency Education Project for Iraqi Refugees in Jordan" or (Ajyal Project) training component -- 31 Jordanians aged between18-30 started their Vocational Training today in the Jordan -- Korea Institute (JOKOTI) in Zarqa. In all, over 100 youth will be trained in the coming 6 months. The project is co-financed by KOICA and World Vision Korea and is implemented by World Vision Jordan in partnership with the Vocational Training Cooperation Centre (VTC). KOICA supports Ajyal Project to assist the Jordanian and Iraqi youth to acquire valuable skills and become more self- reliant and to aid with Iraqi refugees for their resettlement in Jordan. The opening ceremony will take place on this occasion in the Jordan- Korea, Institute representatives from Mr. Jung, Sang Hoon KOICA Representative- Jordan Office, Vocational Training Corporation; Mr. Issa Al- Bawab, the Director of the Jordan- Korea Institute; and Ms. Siobhan Kimmerle, Programme Director World Vision Jordan will attend the event. Mr. Jung stressed the importance of combined efforts in building up the partnership between KOICA and World Vission and the VTC for the effective contribution and sustainability of future endeavors. (Ajyal Project) aims at achieving equitable education for Iraqi refugee youths and vulnerable Jordanians which leads to their adaptation and stable settlement in the regional society. This project consists of five components: Vocational Training, Joyful Learning Training for Teachers, School Heads and Supervisors, Empowering PTA's, School-Community Awareness Projects and distribution of school supplies and teaching aids. Educational components are implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education. KOICA was established in April 1991 by the Korean Government, and is responsible for grant aid and technical cooperation programs including KOV's program for the developing countries. The primary aim of KOICA is to assist with the self-help efforts of developing countries to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development as well as to promote friendly relations with Korea's developing partners. KOICA Jordan Office started its activities since March 22, 2008. World Vision is a child focus organization and it works in more than 100 countries in the world. World Vision registered in Jordan in 2008 and has since been serving vulnerable children and youth in Zarqa and Amman by providing psychosocial support programming in educational, social, vocational sectors. Current programming is supported by WV Canada, WV Korea and WV Taiwan. World Vision is a Christian international relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.
