By introducing Linux, 1st CTI is building the bridge to higher-level business communications solutions benefiting the small to mid-size enterprise through Linux's networking capability, user-intuitiveness and pricing advantage.

"Linux provides an excellent fit into the computer telephony industry. Linux provides inherent operating efficiencies and networking capabilities for the 2-8 port market segment traditionally serviced by limited functionality DOS systems," states Ed Doyle Edward Doyle (born November 30, 1935 in Franquelin, Quebec) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. , 1st CTI's Chairman. "Linux will offer comprehensive and feature-rich voice processing typically available with the larger-office NT systems, for the small to mid-size office."

Linux can support CommLink(tm), the company's Window's client desktop messaging and communications management applications. And, Linux's networking capability reduces costs by eliminating the need for a dedicated monitor/keyboard package, and satisfies the request for convenient system administration.

1st CTI is uniquely positioned to be among the first to offer Linux voice processing because its existing Windows voicemail software and applications and remote administration are interoperable through socket connections. Plans are to be in Beta March 2001, with field shipments in July 2001.

The appeal to have a Linux system go head to head against a DOS based system in terms of price, with substantially greater benefit and functionality for the end-user and voice-processing reseller is real.
