American Megatrends American Megatrends Incorporated (AMI) is a Georgia, USA based hardware company that creates PC hardware and firmware. It was founded in 1985 by the current chairman and president, S. Shankar.  Inc. (AMI), the leader in storage and computing innovations worldwide, today announced its storage products - including 1U and 3U network attached storage (NAS (1) See network access server.

AMI will share a booth with its distribution partner Mosaic-Geva, a medium-sized specialist for innovative solutions in payment transactions, in Hall 11 (Networking) at number CO3. "CeBIT marks AMI's entry into the growing NAS, storage and Internet appliance market, as well as its continuous strength of product with its Ultra160 SCSI SCSI

RAID lines," said Winfried Prohl, AMI Germany's managing director. "With its new product offerings, and advanced RAID controllers, AMI is a proven key player in the storage industry."

1U and 3U NAS solutions

The StorTrends 1108-N is a 1U NAS solution with eight hot swappable drive bays, two hot swappable power supplies and features AMI's Indium server appliance motherboard that provides a scalable, high-performance platform that addresses many applications, including NAS, web servers and other embedded environments. The 1108-N includes custom-designed NAS software that resides on a network-upgradable flash memory device, leaving all hard drives 100 percent available for user data.

The AMI-designed 1108 1U chassis with front panel LCD and LEDs provides proper thermal management, is mounted on rails with hinged cover for fast access. All drives are mounted using the revolutionary "eZswap" lever action hold down. New drives are installed by simply inserting them straight out of the box -- without screws, rails or carrier assemblies -- and then latched in place with no mounting accessories or assembly. The 1108 chassis features AMI backplanes (series 904 and 905) with four Ultra160 (Ultra320 ready) slots and Intelligent Platform Management Interface The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification defines a set of common interfaces to computer hardware and firmware which system administrators can use to monitor system health and manage the system. Several dozen companies support IPMI.  (IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) A protocol for monitoring server hardware for temperature, voltage, chassis intrusion, etc. Introduced in 1998 by Intel, HP, NEC and Dell, IPMI defines a standard set of messages for the characteristics of hardware ) v0.9 and v1.0 support. IPMI gives IT managers access to platform management information and control features, allowing more accurate predictions of hardware failures, diagnoses of hardware problems and the initiation of recovery actions.

The StorTrends 1312-N is a 3U NAS solution with 12 hot swappable drive bays, redundant and hot swappable power supplies, AMI's Indium embedded motherboard and custom-designed NAS software. The chassis, which can also be used as a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) A group of hard disks in a computer that are not set up as any type of RAID configuration. They are just a bunch of disks.

, includes two AMI backplanes (series 906) with six single channel Ultra160 (Ultra320 ready) slots and IPMI support.

The StorTrends 1108 and StorTrends 1312 will be available for evaluation and ordering in May.

Ultra160 Cluster Kit

The MegaRAID(R) Cluster Kit 1600 offers unmatched protection for critical applications in Windows NT and 2000 environments. Its hardware includes two MegaRAID Elite 1600 RAID controllers, two 68-pin UHD UHD University of Houston-Downtown

It is highly miniaturized and uses a similar flat leaf-style pin like the Centronics connector.  1-meter cables and the StorTrends 1312-C subsystem that features two cluster enablers (series 437), 12 hot swap drive bays, fans and power supplies and SAF-TE SAF-TE SCSI Access Fault-Tolerant Enclosure  enclosure management. MegaRAID clustering from AMI provides outstanding ease-of-use, the most dynamic disk management capabilities, dramatically reduced planned and unplanned downtime and cost-effective reliability and redundancy.

Ultra160 SCSI RAID controllers

AMI's 64-bit/66 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  line of controllers enables AMI to meet the most specific demands of customers in the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  and channel markets seeking advanced Ultra160 SCSI RAID products. The MegaRAID Enterprise 1600, MegaRAID Elite 1600 and MegaRAID Express 500 high-end, mid-range and entry-level controllers offer the widest range of Ultra160 SCSI RAID solutions to meet any customer's storage needs.

RAID controller. With four channels of Ultra160 SCSI at its heart, this enterprise-level card is poised to take over the high-end of the PCI RAID market with its blistering speed. The Elite 1600 64-bit/66 MHz PCI RAID controller is designed with mid-range system requirements in mind. The only product on the market with two Ultra160 SCSI channels in a true half-size form factor, the Elite 1600 is ideal for integrators, resellers and OEMs searching for enterprise quality for their mid-range designs. For entry-level needs, the Express 500 32-bit/33 MHz PCI single channel Ultra160 SCSI RAID controller is the ideal single channel solution, providing unequaled performance at a reasonable price.

Ultra160 SCSI low profile PCI RAID

Targeted for 1U and 2U servers, the Express 550 MD2 size RAID controller allows information technology managers to save expensive rack space, reduce co-location costs and increase the available space for RAID storage, routers and other types of adapters. It also offers on-board battery backup for cache memory.

"The low profile form factor available with the Express 550 Ultra160 PCI SCSI RAID controller meets our customers' needs for physically smaller dedicated task servers, such as web, email, firewalls and caching engines," said Siamak Iranpour, AMI director of OEM sales. "In addition to enabling small rackable servers, the low profile board delivers increased value to workstations and NAS devices that have little space for add-in options."

Internet Appliance

A low-cost portable communications and multimedia device, the Internet Appliance is powered by a high-performance StrongArm processor and includes a full-featured web browser The program that serves as your front end to the Web on the Internet.
