1999 Southern Baptist Historical Society annual meeting to be held at William Jewell College.


The SBHS will hold its annual meeting May 26-28, 1999 on the campus of William Jewell College William Jewell College is a private, four-year liberal arts college of 1,274 undergraduate students located in Liberty, Missouri, U.S. It was founded in 1849 by members of the Missouri Baptist Convention and other civic leaders which included Robert James, a Baptist minister and , Liberty, Missouri. William Jewell will be celebrating its sesquicentennial ses·qui·cen·ten·ni·al

 anniversary. At this time plans are being made for the program and will be announced in the winter issue of Baptist Heritage Update.

Members are encouraged to set aside this time to attend the Society's annual meeting. PLEASE NOTE that the days of the meeting will be different this year. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to accommodate William Jewell's calendar.

The program for the 1999 annual meeting will include papers drawn from William Jewell's outstanding Spurgeon Collection. The program will also include panel discussions on "Baptist History in the Twenty-first Century" and "Seminary Education in Kansas Education in Kansas is governed primarily by the Kansas State Board of Education.
