.A.) Cable Satisfaction International Inc. (Csii) today announced that it recorded a 79% increase of subscribers in fiscal 1999. The number of subscribers reached 83,491 as at December 31, 1999 compared to 46,646 subscribers as at December 31, 1998. During the same period, the number of homes passed rose by 102,158, a 59.37% increase, to reach 274,216 homes passed.

This increase is attributable to the development of its Portuguese subsidiary, Cabovisao-Televisao por Cabo S.A. (Cabovisao). The number of subscribers rose to 55,576 subscribers as at December 31, 1999 compared to 23,316 subscribers in 1998, a 138.36% increase. The average monthly rate of new subscribers, which was 1,500 per month in the first quarter of 1999, increased to more than 3,900 new subscribers per month in the fourth quarter.

As at December 31, 1999 the penetration rate in Portugal reached 27.15% out of 204,718 homes passed compared to 20.62% for fiscal 1998, a 31.67% increase. This increase demonstrates the increasing awareness of and potential for cable TV in Portugal. It also confirms the ability of the market to develop to a penetration rate similar to that in North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. .

Recently, Cabovisao broadened its service offering, delivering high-speed Internet access services in the Palmela region since November 1st 1999. During fiscal 2000, the service will be extended to the other regions served by Cabovisao.
