Florida's residential sales improved in 1994 despite the rise in interest rates which on a 30 year fixed rate mortgage averaged about 9.3 percent -- 2 percent above the average rate in 1993. "The positive effects of a bouyant economy in the state have outweighed the impact of higher mortgage costs," TRW REDI said.
