 1992-93 NEW JERSEY DIRECTORY PROFILES
 'MOVERS-AND-SHAKERS' OF STATE ESTABLISHMENT
PRINCETON, N.J., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Joshua Communications announced today it has published the 1992-93 edition of The New Jersey Directory -- The Insider Guide to New Jersey Leaders(TM).
The book was edited by Donald Linky, who served as counsel to the governor and director of the Governor's Office of Policy and Planning in the administration of Gov. Brendan T. Byrne and later as senior vice president and general counsel of the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, the state's largest business organization. "The New Jersey Directory is a different type of reference book," according to Linky. "The Directory identifies the key movers-and-shakers in contemporary public and private roles, and points out the insider networks and relationships within the State establishment. The book attempts to put all the people, companies and resources which top decision-makers and their staffs need to know in a single source."
The 458-page "all-in-one" reference book to New Jersey provides biographical profiles of leaders in various fields, including business, higher education, arts, science and technology, government and politics, as well as special chapters highlighting women and minority leaders.
The book goes beyond standard "who's who" type profiles by including available information on family, business or political ties among State establishment. Individuals profiled in The Directory cover a broad range of fields, including Gov. Jim Florio, his Cabinet and staff, the State Legislature, Congressional Delegation and Supreme Court; chief executives of the State's largest employers, such as Robert E. Allen (AT&T), James G. Cullen (New Jersey Bell Telephone), Ralph S. Larsen (Johnson & Johnson), Josh S. Weston (Automatic Data Processing), Joseph Unanue (Goya Foods), and Donald Trump (Trump Plaza, Trump Castle, Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Regency Hotels); scientists and research leaders at major corporations and universities, such as Dr. Shirley Jackson (Rutgers University and AT&T Bell Laboratories, first black woman to earn a Ph.D. in theoretical physics in U.S.) and Dr. Joachim Messing (director of Waksman Institute of Microbiology at Rutgers University, most cited younger scientist in nation); and artists, including architect and designer Michael Graves, sculptor George Segal and novelist Joyce Carol Oates.
The Directory also provides background sketches of the leading companies, organizations and institutions active in the State, with chapters on the largest employers; emerging growth and technology companies; law firms; accounting firms; banks; investment banks and venture capital firms; insurance companies; newspapers; television and radio; magazines; public utilities; real estate development; hotels and casino-hotels; restaurants; interest groups; foundations; universities and colleges; and hospitals.
New Jersey's public sector establishment is outlined through biographical sketches of key government leaders and political activists, including prominent fundraisers and contributors. Profiles of the leading independent lobbying firms; public authorities and commissions are also included. Functions and organization of each of the state departments are summarized with relevant phone numbers of key agencies, along with related interest groups and federal agency contacts.
The Directory concludes with statistical tables of recent demographic and economic data outlining New Jersey trends in population, housing, employment and other sectors.
