19 AREA SCHOOLS ARE SWINGING INTO SECTION REGIONALS; WESTLAKE, HART MUST TAP ALL SKILLS.Byline: Dave Shelburne Daily News Staff Writer Longtime golf powers Westlake and Hart lead a contingent of 19 area schools into the first round of Southern Section team play today, when both programs will likely need all of their depth and talent to advance. Only the top three finishers in each of today's seven regionals qualify for Thursday's section final at La Purisima. ``You've got to be a gamer in postseason,'' said Hart coach Dennis Ford, whose Indians are anchored by Long Beach State-bound Ryan Wyman. ``You don't have to have a career round in the regionals, but you'd best have one in the section final.'' He knows better than most. Despite a 199-0-1 career record in the Foothill League, none of his previous nine league-championship teams went on to win section. Westlake coach Dave Costley thinks survival today could depend on the weather at traditionally wind-buffeted River Ridge, where gusts can hit 40 miles per hour. ``If we shoot 370-375 (10-15 over par) we should make it,'' said Costley, whose Warriors - led by UCLA-bound J.T. Kohut - have shot in that range several times this season. ``If we have a good day, we should be OK. But if everyone has a good day, we could be in trouble.''
