The WATCHA Tour 2000

Created last year by Vans Warped Tour Warped Tour is a touring music and extreme sports festival. The tour is held in venues (generally parking lots or fields upon which the stages and other structures are erected).  producer Kevin Lyman, promoter Daryl Eaton and top Latin rock manager Jorge Mondragon, WATCHA 2000 brought together an eclectic collection of top Latin alternative, rock and hip-hop acts in an 18-city trek across the United States and Puerto Rico.

This year's tour began August 11 in Los Angeles and featured Grammy-nominated artists Cafe Tacuba, Molotov, Aterciopelados, Argentinian metal rockers A.N.I.M.A.L. and their countrymen Enanitos Verdes, as well as cultural hybrid Ozomatli. Local, national and international bands were added to the bill in each city.

The word WATCHA, loosely translated as "check it out," is a Spanglish combo of "mira" (look) and "watch," and illustrates the cultural bridge that a show like WATCHA brings to rock and roll. Also, "nos watchamos" is a common Spanglish expression that means "I'll catch you later" or "I'll see you later."
