Close to 500 volunteers will paint economically disadvantaged seniors' homes and the center Saturday, Nov. 14. Teams of 15 to 30 volunteers, most representing San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Along with the homes, the Mid-City Adult Day Health Center at 4077 Fairmont Ave. will receive a fresh coat of paint. The center provides meals, exercise programs, and arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts.  programs for up to 50 seniors daily.

More than 100 volunteers from both Bank of America and Home Depot will each paint five of the 18 homes. Other companies fielding teams include KPOP Radio and its parent company, Jacor Communications, Sharp HealthCare, World Wide Mortgage, Secure Horizons, Karl Strauss Breweries and the City of Escondido.

"Paint Your Heart Out" is San Diego's first countywide, one-day painting event. The concept was created by KPOP Radio and modeled after a similar event in Florida.
