The u.s. justice department categorizes the crime of carjacking as a "completed or attempted Robbery of a motor vehicle by a stranger

Calling the crimes outrageous, Judge John S. McCann sentenced Anthony J. Jackson to 15 to 17 years in state prison, with 5 years of probation to follow, after Mr. Jackson pleaded guilty in Worcester Superior Court to charges of carjacking, kidnapping kidnapping, in law, the taking away of a person by force, threat, or deceit, with intent to cause him to be detained against his will. Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey T. When the man was unable to produce his wallet, Mr. Rebollo got behind the wheel and Mr. Jackson, of 14 Boardman St., got into the back seat, according to according to

From inside the trunk, the victim told police, he felt the car stop and heard what sounded like a robbery. Mr. Travers said that holdup occurred at 3:53 a.m. when the suspects robbed a man and two women at gunpoint on Coes Street after ramming one of the two cars they were in.

About 4:35 a.m., after releasing the carjacking victim and returning his car to him, the three suspects robbed a 24-year-old newspaper deliveryman at gunpoint on Gage Street Gage Street (Traditional Chinese: 結志街; Simplified Chinese: 结志街 , Mr. Travers said.

Police located the Maxima about 5 a.m. near Main and Elm streets and arrested the suspects after they were identified by the victim of the Gage Street robbery. Police said they recovered a shotgun, a pellet gun a gun that fires small pellets, less than 3 mm diameter, usually made of metal.

The sentence imposed by Judge McCann was recommended by Mr. Travers. Mr. Jackson's lawyer, Tom G. Vukmirovits, recommended a sentence of 5 to 7 years and probation.

"It is my hope, desire and request that you serve no less than 15 years, though I would rather it be life," the mother of one of the female robbery victims said to Mr. Jackson.

Mr. Jackson was given credit for 433 days he spent in custody awaiting trial. Mr. Cox and Mr. Rebollo also are charged with other robberies.
