15- and 30-KW DED generators ... a little oil will do ya'.

Forgetting to oil the adjustment rod on the electric actuator A mechanism that causes a device to be turned on or off, adjusted or moved. The motor and mechanism that moves the head assembly on a disk drive or an arm of a robot is called an actuator. See access arm.  on your 15-KW MEP-113A or 30-KW MEP-114A generator could shut down an entire communications system In telecommunication, a communications system is a collection of individual communications networks, transmission systems, relay stations, tributary stations, and data terminal equipment (DTE) usually capable of interconnection and interoperation to form an integrated whole. .

Here's how: The rod is part of a governor that controls engine speed. Without enough oil, the bearings inside the rod ends wear out. Once that happens, the rod can't move the way it should to trigger the fuel injector a device for actively injecting fuel into an internal-combustion engines by directly forcing the liquid fuel into the combustion chamber at an appropriate point in the piston cycle; - an alternative to a carburetor  pump. The pump can't deliver the precise amount of fuel to the engine. And when the amount of fuel to the engine varies, the electricity produced by the generator varies as well.

Communications systems are especially vulnerable to changes in power. Without a steady supply, they can shut down.

So oil the bearings in each end rod regularly with 30-weight oil, NSN NSN National Stock Number
