15 SEEK APPOINTMENT TO A.V. HIGH SCHOOL BOARD SEAT; INTERVIEWS TO BE HELD THURSDAY TO CHOOSE LANDAKER SUCCESSOR.

An elementary school district trustee, a former trustee, an intermediate school principal and a sheriff's sergeant are among 15 people who have applied for appointment to the Antelope Valley Union High School District The Antelope Valley Union High School District (A.V.U.H.S.D.) is located in the Antelope Valley area of California, in northern Los Angeles County.

The district includes eight public high schools, one trade school, and two continuation high schools in the cities of Palmdale
 board seat left vacant by the resignation of trustee Steve Landaker.

The board will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday to interview candidates for 10 minutes each and make a selection. The meeting will be at the district office, 44811 Sierra Highway.

The appointee will have to win an election in November if he or she wants to stay on the board.

The candidates are:
