15 A.V. TEENS GET FULL SCHOLARSHIPS TO CSULB.

Antelope Valley valedictorians make up more than one-quarter of the high school graduates awarded full scholarships this year to attend California State University Enrollment
, Long Beach, through the campus' President's Scholars Program.

Including two sets of twins, the 15 Antelope Valley teens are among 50 high school graduates statewide picked for the 2006 scholarships, which are worth approximately $35,000 each.

Established in 1995, the President's Scholars Program was created to bring valedictorians and National Merit scholars from California high schools to Cal State Long Beach.

Among the new President's Scholars are: Kristin M. Haldeman and Christine A. Prange of Acton; Jennifer M. Evans, Kenneth S. Evans, Rebecca Hicks, Kasey C. Lewallen, Katherine A. Shanks and Jordan M. Vogel of Lancaster; James L. Brooks of Littlerock; Jennifer L. Deardorff of Llano; and Christopher M. Bostwick, Clara M. Bostwick, Whitney J. Brown, Laila M. Nikaien and Kira M. Rhea rhea, in zoology
rhea (rē`ə), common name for a South American bird of the family Rheidae, which is related to the ostrich. Weighing from 44 to 55 lb (20–25 kg) and standing up to 60 in.
 of Palmdale.

The Antelope Valley teens and the other 35 students from elsewhere in California were selected from more than 600 applicants statewide.

The 2006 scholars bring the total numbers of high school valedictorians and National Merit scholars attending the university to about 350.

President's Scholars get scholarships that cover general student fees, an annual book allowance and paid housing in the campus residence halls for four years. In addition, they receive priority registration, personal academic counseling and more.

The scholarships are supported by the CSULB CSULB California State University at Long Beach  Alumni Association, President Associates and the Corporate Scholars Council.

Christopher and Clara Bostwick, valedictorians for the Class of 2006 at Paraclete High School Paraclete High School is a Catholic High School in Lancaster, CA operated independently of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. 186 seniors graduated in the 2006-2007 school year.  in Lancaster. The son and daughter of Charles and Regina Bostwick of Palmdale, Christopher is planning to major in civil engineering, and Clara is planning to study communicative disorders.

James L. Brooks, a valedictorian for the Class of 2006 at Littlerock High School Littlerock High School is a public, co-educational high school located in Littlerock, California. It is the a part of the Antelope Valley High School District (AVHSD). External links

Jennifer and Kenneth Evans, valedictorians for the Class of 2006 at Desert Christian High School Christian High School, also known as CHS, is in O'Fallon, Missouri. The school mascot is the Eagle and the school colors are teal and black. Their women's soccer team has won many state championships.  in Lancaster. The daughter and son of Scott and Mari Anne Evans of Lancaster, the two are both planning to major in business management.

Kristin M. Haldeman, valedictorian for the Class of 2006 at Vasquez High School. The daughter of Rob and Beverly Haldeman of Acton, she is planning to major in mathematics.

Rebecca Hicks, a valedictorian for the Class of 2006 at Desert High School on Edwards Air Force Base Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. It is one of the largest air force bases in the United States and has the world's longest runway. . The daughter of George and Lori Hicks of Lancaster, she is planning to major in computer engineering.

Kira M. Rhea, a valedictorian for the Class of 2006 at Quartz Hill High School Quartz Hill High School is a public, co-educational high school located in Lancaster, California. Founded in 1964, it is the third oldest comprehensive high school in the Antelope Valley High School District (AVHSD). . The daughter of Ed and Lisa Rhea of Palmdale, she is planning to major in film and electronic arts.

Katherine A. Shanks, a valedictorian for the Class of 2006 at Desert High School. The daughter of John and Monica Shanks of Lancaster, she is planning to major in drawing and painting.

Jordan M. Vogel, a valedictorian for the Class of 2006 at Lancaster High School. The son of Michael and Vicky Vogel of Lancaster, he is planning to major in biology.
