15% increase in pension of PIA retired employees announced.

KARACHI, October 14, 2009 (Balochistan Times): PIA Senior Staff Association and CBA organized a get together of employees at PIA Head Office. Managing Director PIA, Captain Mohammad Aijaz Haroon while addressing the audience announced a 15 % enhancement in the pension of PIA retired employees which would be effective from December 1, 2009 . He said that together with team work and dedication of all employees, PIA can achieve profitability which will be beneficial for all stakeholders i.e. the employees, its shareholders and PIA passengers. All employees have to work wholeheartedly for the airline, he said. Referring to the recent increase in the salaries of PIA employees, he assured them that if the airline is profitable, they would be given further increase in salaries even before the Employees Associations demand for it, but it all depends on the performance of the airline for which all employees have to work hard for the betterment of the airline, he added. He further said that PIA employees would be given 12 % shares of PIA owned by the government and that they (employees) will soon be partners in the airline. The Government wants to give due share to the employees and this is a step towards it, he added. He said that once the employees know the details of the scheme, they will appreciate it. He denied rumours saying that no one would be terminated from service; however, those employees who do not work or are working against the airline will not be spared. Managing Director PIA was presented a Crown on behalf of PIA employees in recognition of his sincere efforts for the airline and its employees. Deputy Managing Director PIA, Mr. Salim Siyani, Director Human Resources, Mr. Haneef Pathan and President PIA Senior Staff Association, Mr. Abid Saleem also spoke on the occasion. The ceremony was attended by Directors, General Managers, Officers and Staff of the airline including office bearers of PIASSA and CBA.
