Two local coordinators have been arranged by ITPO to assist Pakistani delegation at the fair in their bilateral meetings as well as industry visits. The delegation comprises of marble mining and processing companies from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar thus representing a wide regional spread of the sector. An agreement was signed between Government of Pakistan Government of Pakistan (Urdu: حکومتِ پاکستان), The Constitution of Pakistan provides for a Federal Parliamentary System of government, with a President as the Head of State and an indirectly-elected Prime and Government of Italy for availability of soft credit line of Euro 7.75 million for Pakistani SMEs. Resultantly, a SMEDA-UNIDO Investment Promotion Unit (IPU) has been established at SMEDA Head Office, Lahore to oversee the implementation under this agreement. Additional components of the IPU are to facilitate Pakistani SMEs from selected sectors in Italian market through participation at relevant fairs & exhibitions and to get industry exposure. Earlier, SMEDA - UNIDO IPU conducted Introductory Seminars for marble sector companies in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad during August 2009. Scope of IPU and facilitation in Marmomacc Fair was discussed during these seminars. The participation in fair is also linked up with concession of soft loan to Marble sector companies. This loan will be disbursed to small and medium enterprises of Pakistan on soft loaning terms & conditions. Investment Promotion Unit is joint initiative of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA), Italian government and United Nation's Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Mandate of IPU is to facilitate bilateral cooperation between Pakistani and foreign companies and henceforth bring investment and joint ventures in Pakistani sectors namely Marble, Gems & Jewellery, Leather and Agro-Food.
